M385

The Model M385 is a unique Blackbody source providing a 50mm to 100mm diameter radiometric calibration cavity target over a temperature range of 5.000°C to 95.000°C (278K to 363K), with an emissivity of 0.99997.

Designed for applications in the Metrology Laboratories, Medical, Life Sciences, Aerospace, Astronomy and Environmental Science disciplines, etc., the Modal M385 is a precise standard for the calibration of infrared thermometers, radiometers, interferometers and thermal imaging systems. The instrument is a bench-top unit, derived from a third generation model and calculations by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

The basis of the M385 is a high conductivity, conical copper cavity source, which is immersed in a stirred bath of deionized water. Bath temperature is controlled at the desired set point by an ultra-sensitive PID controller with set point resolution of 0.002° C. Carefully designed stirring and bath configuration, and the use of a precision thermistor temperature sensor, results in water temperature stability of ~2mK over several days and temperature uniformity of ±2.0mK to ±5.0mK, depending on set point temperature. Spectral emission is essentially flat from 3µm upwards.
