In the aluminium industry temperatures of molten aluminium or hot finished goods can be measured. The temperature of machine parts used in the process can also be detected. IMPAC Infrared has developed special pyrometers and solutions for the aluminium industry. These products optimally meet the specific requirements and problems of non-contact temperature measurement of aluminium.
Generally temperature measurement is required at the following three critical steps in the production process of aluminium extrusion profiles:
- After preheating of the billet
- When the profile exits the die
- When the profile is quenched
To guarantee an uninterrupted production process, the measurement of the production tools (e.g. the die) can also be made.
Pouring streams of aluminium can only be measured with pyrometers using the optical non-contact technology.
The measurement of aluminium melt in the melting pot is critical.
The measuring conditions while forging aluminium provide usable and easily repeatable results.
For process control, measurements of semi-finished products after preheating and before forming are also possible.
Rolling aluminium is done at very different temperatures - depending on the processing step. Different pyrometers can be used depending on the temperature and the application area.
