Ventilation and Air Exchange Measurements

The doser system marks the supply-air of the room with a known amount of tracer-gas such as Sulphur Hexa Fluoride (SF6), Freon 134a, Freon 152 or Nitrous Oxide (N2O). Measurements of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is an important application for detection of Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).

The sampler system then takes a sample of the return-air from the room, and delivers the sample to the 1412 for analysis. While the 1412 performs one analysis, the 1303 takes the next sample for analysis from the room. As the amount of tracer-gas delivered to the room is known, and the remaining concentration of tracer-gas in the samples is determined by the 1412, the ventilation-system performance can be automatically calculated by the Application Software 7620.

The software gives control of all the dosing/sampling and monitoring functions of such a system. The 7620 controls one 1412 and one or two 1303 units.

7620 Application Software for Tracer-gas Monitoring

The 7620 Application Software is especially developed to perform quantitative air exchange analysis using the tracer-gas technique. The Photoacoustic Field Gas-Monitor 1412 and the Multipoint Sampler and Doser unit(s) 1303 are connected to the PC via RS-232 interface or USB Com port. The user decides where the measurements will be performed, and connects the Sampler and Doser unit(s) to these locations with tubing so that the locations can be "dosed" with tracer-gas and air samples can be taken from the location and be analyzed by the Monitor.

The 7620 can either perform ventilation measurements using both the doser and sampler system with one or two tracer gases or a multipoint gas-monitoring tasks, using only the sampler system of the 1303 units. The user opens a database to receive the data from the task, and configures the 7620 to the instruments. When the configuration is complete, the 7620 is in control of the instruments, and the chosen task be set up and started. Measurement data and the running status of the instruments, are
displayed on-screen.

Uses:

  • Remote-control of a system comprising: a 1412 Monitor alone, or together with one or two Multipoint Sampler and Doser units 1303
  • Enables ventilation and air-exchange measurement using tracer gases in up to 12 locations
  • Enables multi-gas monitoring in up to 12 locations 
  • Displays chosen measurement data in either table or in graph form 
  • Up to 6 graphs can be drawn on the same axes - giving direct comparison of results from different locations 
  • Data from external programs can be imported to 7620 
  • Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) for data exchange (for example, to spreadsheet and database programs)

Features

  • Synchronizes the sampling and dosing functions of the Sampler and Doser units to the measurements cycle of the Gas Monitor

  • Dosing is done by giving either constant dose of tracer gas to each location , or by maintaining a constant concentration of tracer gas at each location

  • For each location, the 7620 stores up to 5 gas-concentrations, the humidity of the air, the amount of tracer gas dosed, and the temperature of the air
